“Political Cartooning: Then and Now”
Ryan C. Hyman, F.M. Kirby Curator of Collections, Macculloch Hall Museum, Paul Laud, Political Cartoonist, Recorder Community Newspapers
Admission is free for members, non-member admission is $5.00 Mr. Hyman will speak on Thomas Nast, the famous 19th century Morristown cartoonist who took on Tammany Hall and created the modern image of Santa Claus. Mr. Hyman actively researches and collects Thomas Nast images for the museum. Mr. Laud, a Morris Township resident, resumed his cartooning career after a 30-year hiatus while working in business. He began his cartooning career as an undergraduate at Princeton University and continued it in business school at Dartmouth. He now creates weekly political cartoons for the Recorder Community Newspapers.
